Metro - Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Timetable, Funding and Support

Successful planning is key to a successful transport system and
it is with Metro in mind that enabling works in Dudley and Merry
Hill have taken place. The Dudley Southern Bypass has been built
with room for Metro to run alongside for that part of the route.
In the Brierley Hill area planning has ensured that Metro will
serve Merry Hill and the busy Waterfront and the redevelopment
proposals for this area are being based around the route of the
Metro.
The Transport
and Works Act Order Application was submitted to Government for
approval on 16 April 2003. The First Secretary of State has reviewed
the documentation, a Public Inquiry has taken place and Centro has
been granted powers to build the route subject to funding.
A final business case for funding approval was submitted in 2006.
