About us

Bus -statiopn2

We are responsible for delivery of public transport in the West Midlands. Our aim is to create a world-class public transport network delivered by a best in class organisation.

We represent the seven metropolitan councils of the West Midlands: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

In partnership with those authorities, we work to ensure everyone benefits from an effective transport system that meets the economic and environmental needs of the region, as well as providing access to jobs, finding innovative ways to help reduce congestion and offering seamless connections for people and goods to home and overseas markets.

We manage the English Travel Concessionary Scheme in the West Midlands for those at the age of entitlement, blind and disabled and children. There are 537,000 card holders making 75 million journeys a year. The scheme entitles pass holders to free bus travel in England and free rail and Metro travel in the West Midlands area.

Our many sites include bus stations and Travel Information Centres as well as our main offices at Centro House in Birmingham city centre.  We ensure staff keep in touch, share ideas and have access to information where ever they are based.

We give people more sustainable travel options including cycle routes and storage, maintenance and safe riding courses and security marking. We also promote safe walking routes and how to consider which journeys you could make on foot.

We deliver in a complex and dynamic environment, from national transport policy to cleaning bus shelters, and working with key stakeholders.  This requires a flexible, adaptable organisational service culture.  We also recognise our responsibilities as a not for profit organisation, and balance innovation and creativity with value for money and better ways of working.  This means partnership, professionalism and excellence in everything we do.

Vision and Values

Our vision is to create a world class public transport network delivered by a best in class organisation. We want to ensure everyone benefits from an effective transport system that meets the economic and environmental needs of the area, as well as access to jobs, combat congestion and offer seamless connectivity for people and goods to UK and overseas markets.

We understand the need to drive the cultural change required to deliver our Vision in line with our Values, ensuring people across the organisation understand their role. We believe that if people are engaged and proud to work here, they will be committed and satisfied in their work.
