Centro owns and maintains 12,200 stopping locations across the West Midlands. Of these, 5,000 are bus shelters.
Many are located where other modes of public transport meet, such as at rail stations and Metro tram stops.
These Network West Midlands branded interchanges make it easier than ever for passengers to switch from one mode of transport to another.
Bus services across the West Midlands have benefited from a groundbreaking deal that Centro has signed with major advertising company Adshel.
The deal has seen us sell the advertising rights to 5,000 shelters, generating more than £70m for the development of local bus services over the next 10 years.
Aldredy, a dozen popular routes have received enhanced services, mostly in the evenings and on Sundays, as a result of the deal.
As a result of the deal with Adshel, waiting for the bus will improve at almost 500 locations across the West Midlands.
Centro is replacing hundreds of bus shelters – giving passengers better protection from the elements and a clearer view of the road. The £1.75m plan is being funded by the advertising on the shelters.
More than £300,000 has also been set aside to help fund Safer Travel, a partnership between Centro, West Midlands Police, Birmingham Community Safety Partnership and National Express. The partnership works to make bus travel even safer for passengers by deterring crime and anti-social behaviour on and around the network.
