The Metro 5Ws route will connect Wolverhampton, Wednestleld, Willenhall, Walsall and Wednesbury, serving many residential, leisure, retail and business areas as well as providing direct access to New Cross and Manor Hospitals. Stops will be conveniently located along the route to provide good interchange with bus, rail and other Metro services and will give easy access to employment, education, health, commercial and shopping areas.
Park and Ride is being considered for some locations along the route, as strategically located sites have been proved to attract motorists out of their cars for their journey.
Operating along key transport corridors, Metro will run with traffic in some areas and segregated from traffic on other parts of the route, which will help to maintain a fast and frequent service and still allow the Metro to serve key locations along the way. Interchange at Wolverhampton and/or Wednesbury would provide access to a network of Metro routes to
serve Dudley, Merry Hill, Brierley Hill, Birmingham City Centre, Great Barr, Quinton and the Airport /NEC.
