Midland Metro Wednesbury to Brierley Hill runs through the heart of the Black Country linking Wednesbury, Great Bridge, Dudley, Merry Hill and Brierley Hill serving existing and proposed residential, retail and leisure areas.
Providing a vital transport link through the heart of the regeneration area Metro will offer a step change in the quality and accessibility of public transport. All stops and trams will be fully accessible and the modern vehicles will be able to carry over 200 people. Modern trams will enhance the image of the region aiding inward investment and regeneration.
This route also benefits from integration with the bus and rail network at many locations along the way helping to open up the employment market. Provision of park and ride facilities at some stops will also attract motorists out of their cars onto Metro for their journey.
Land Referencing Work
Centro and its local authority partners are working together to extend Midland Metro from Wednesbury to Brierley Hill.
In December 2008, the extension formed part of the West Midlands Regional Transport Priorities Action Plan priority to link together the strategic centres in the Black Country. Centro and its partners are continuing to work on the route to ensure that as soon as funding is available we can move forward to construction. One of the many strands of work required is to identify people with interests in land including land owners, tenants and occupiers along the routes that we need to buy or lease in order to build the Metro.
This land referencing work was carried out in 2003 for the Transport and Works Act Order application and the process we are going through now is to update this information to make sure it is correct and we have the right contact details for each property.
During the next few months our appointed land agents will be carrying out this work on our behalf and will be contacting property owners in your area to ensure we have the correct contact details for the land owners. This is part of a legal process that is required for the business case bid we are currently putting together.
If you would like to know more about this programme of work or more about the project please contact the customer relations team on 0121 214 7214.
