Sustainability

Electric Cars Plugged in

We have a responsibility to help create a sustainable future and aim to demonstrate this in everything we do. We are committed to developing and promoting sustainable solutions which support economic growth and carbon reduction.

We are delivering and promoting environmental responsibility within our organisation by seeking to address the impact our activities have on the environment and monitoring our performance.

We support carbon reduction through developing and promoting infrastructure, behaviour change and technology to assist in the transition to a low carbon region.

As part of this, we are talking to stakeholders and partners about developing sustainable transport, infrastructure and services which will have a positive effect on our environment.

The £48 million Smart Network Smarter Choices project looks to meet many of our aims through encouraging communities, schools, businesses and other stakeholders to switch to more sustainable means of travel through the delivery of a number of transport improvements on ten key corridors.

In December 2013 the Department for Transport launched a competition for revenue funding for sustainable travel.

This funding supplements the existing Local Sustainable Transport Fund which runs until March 2015.

This new funding competition will support sustainable travel in 2015/16.

Three bids, aligned to the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), have been developed in partnership with Centro, Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, Warwickshire County Council and Wolverhampton City Council.
